Weight Loss and Healthy Eating - Some Advice on Pasta

A very common problem nowadays: overweight. More than 60 percent of the population in western countries today is overweight. Almost one third of them is actually obese and has to be classed as physically handicapped.

It does not come as a big surprise that nowadays dieting, losing weight and weight loss are a very popular content in most magazines. Every week you find a new article or a new series about the "new" wonder diet, which promises you a weight loss of "20 pounds per week" or "a six-pack in seven days".

Unfortunately, most of these "tips" are not even worth the ink they are printed with. To lose a sensational amount of weight within a sensational short period of time, you virtually have to go through a "hunger-period" which is extremely unhealthy for your body.

Now, whatever your goal is: just plain and simple weight loss, or losing weight and getting fitter, or building up a better body - the most important factor is always your health. And general health starts with the right nutrition.

Make sure, there are always enough vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates, minerals, fat and fibres in your food. Obviously, you also have to eat less than normal, so it is twice important, to take care of that.

Important is that your daily diet always contains enough fresh fruits and vegetables. This is important for the provision with vitamins. Also change your daily diet towards whole-grain products and stay away from white flour and too much salt - which is anyway a sin for weight loss.

Amongst the best food in general is pasta. It is an excellent energy source for the active sportsman and also an excellent provider for proteins and carbohydrates, if your target is weight loss.

It does not really matter, if you choose dried or fresh pasta. Although fresh pasta delivers more calcium, potassium and selenium and is a little bit superior in magnesium, iron, zinc and copper, fresh pasta also has slightly more calories and is more expensive than dried pasta. So, at the end it is up to you. Just choose your pasta according to your budget and your taste.

And on top of it, nice pasta with olive oil, garlic, some chilli and some fried prawns, is not just healthy, not just good for weight loss, but also extremely tasty!
